ABOUT

The free “Anti-Racist Art Activity” for ages 7-14 is available for use during Black History Month and throughout the year. It’s particularly suited for use in language arts and social studies classes, as well as in U.S. history classes for lessons covering the Civil Rights Movement and the Underground Railroad. Adults may enjoy this activity, too!

Two activity pages are provided for each individual featured: The first page is for coloring/art, and the second is for research and writing. Free curriculum is included. Combining art with research and writing will bring the historical figures to life for the students in a meaningful and memorable way.

PURPOSE

The “Anti-Racist Art Activity” was created to help young people learn about, celebrate, and be inspired by Black historical figures and the ways in which they challenged racism and contributed to more inclusive and just laws, practices, and policies.

TIME REQUIRED: 20+ minutes | AGES: 7-14
